1. How does the Full-Time On-Campus MBA Program differ from the Distance Learning MBA Program?

In the Full-Time On-Campus MBA Program students work in a three semester lock step program. Classes enter as a cohort group in the fall semester and graduate together at the end of the following fall semester. While there is a degree of flexibility in class choices, a core set of MBA classes are taken together with the cohort group and credit hours per semester are set.

2. When is the application deadline?

The priority deadline for the Full-Time On-Campus MBA Program is November 1st. Final application deadline is March 1.

3. What is the cost of tuition for the Full-Time On-Campus MBA Program?

The Full-Time On-Campus MBA Program is funded by a combination of University tuition and a per credit hour professional fee. Tuition is $3,120 per semester for instate students and $9,360 per semester for out of state students. Professional fees are charged at the same rate for all students and total $200 per credit hour (tuition and professional fees as published for fall semester 2009).

4. How long will it take me to complete my MBA in the Full-Time On-Campus Program?

Full-Time On-Campus students enter the Program together as a cohort group and graduate together after three semesters in the Program. Students enter in the fall semester and graduate at the conclusion of the following fall semester. The Auburn MBA Degree requires completion of a minimum of 36 semester credit hours.

5. How do I apply to the Auburn MBA Program?

Two steps are required to apply to the Program. First, the Auburn University Graduate School online E-Application must be completed at www.grad.auburn.edu. This application requires the payment of a $50 USD application processing fee ($60 USD for international students). Second, the MBA paper application form, 2 required essays, 1 official transcript from each school previously attended, official GMAT scores, 3 recommendations, and a current resume must be sent to the Office of MBA Admissions.

 

6. In what areas can I concentrate?

Flexibility is a defining characteristic of the Auburn MBA. As such, students are able to concentrate in a variety of subject areas. Formal programs exist in the following areas: Agribusiness, Economic Development, Economics, Finance, Health Care Administration, Human Resource Management, Management Information Systems, Marketing, Production/Operations Management, Sports Management and Supply Chain Management. Customized concentrations may be established on a case-by-case basis.

7. How many students are admitted to the program?

Admission to the Full-Time Auburn MBA is on a competitive basis among all applicants. A total of 50 seats are available each year.

8. Does my academic background meet the requirements?

The MBA Program accommodates students with undergraduate degrees in engineering, liberal arts, sciences and many other areas. However, there are undergraduate prerequisite business principles courses which are required before a student is cleared to start graduate MBA classes. For international students, the Auburn University Graduate School cannot accept a 3-year degree unless the student has also completed a 2-year graduate degree or a 1-year Diploma.

9. Do I have to take the GMAT?

The GMAT is required for all applicants except those with a PhD or JD. There is no minimum score. However, students who present a score of less than 600 are encouraged to re-take the GMAT. Only students applying for a dual degree program may present a GRE score in lieu of a GMAT score..

10. Do I have to take the TOEFL?

The TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) is required for international applicants. Those who have received university degrees from accredited institutions in the U.S. or from countries where English is their native language may have this requirements waived. Successful international applicants must score at least 550 on the TOEFL paper version (pBT), 213 on the computer version (cBT) and 79 on the Internet version (iBT). Additionally, successful applicants must score minimums of 16 on the listening, reading, speaking and writing components of the iBT.

11. What are the prerequisite requirements if offered admission?

Prerequisite courses for the Auburn MBA include Calculus, Statistics for Business and Economics, Principles of Financial Accounting, Principles of Managerial Accounting, Principles of Microeconomics, Principles of Macroeconomics, Principles of Business Finance, Principles of Management, and Principles of Marketing.

For students with degrees in non-Business majors, we strongly recommend you contact the MBA Program Office before starting business undergraduate prerequisite courses to ensure that duplication of coursework is avoided.

Prior to entering the MBA program and starting classes, students must have completed, or otherwise satisfied, all of the prerequisite requirements. Prerequisite requirements are not necessary for admission.

These requirements may be fulfilled by taking undergraduate courses and earning a grade of ‘C’ or better from a college, university or community college in your area. They may also be completed by purchasing some or all of the Certificate in Business Series prerequisite courses from the Auburn University MBA Program and completing a pass/fail competency exam. Another option is via the standardized CLEP examinations. Military applicants may also work with the DANTES System in taking standardized examinations.

12. Can I transfer credits from another MBA Program?

Students transferring from another AACSB accredited graduate program must earn at least 24 semester hours of the total hours required for their degree from Auburn University. It may be possible to transfer up to 12 semester hours, which may only be applied as elective credit in the MBA Program. The Auburn University Graduate School determines which hours and courses are transferable. The minimum grade for transferred courses is ‘B’. Consideration of transfer credits is made during the time a student’s MBA Application is being reviewed.

13. How are the courses taught?

The Full-Time On-Campus MBA Program utilizes a variety of instructional methods. Learning takes place in traditional lectures, case analysis discussions, in off-site retreats and meetings and in the field both domestically and abroad.
